Turns out I am an artist!
After graduating from college with a major in Communications and minor in English I was certain of one thing...I wanted to have a positive impact on this world.
I began my career at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation where I quickly realized my favorite days were those I spent in schools.
15 years, and three children later, when faced with the choice to return to the classroom full time as a 6th grade English Language Arts teacher or resign from my part time position due to budget cuts I re-discovered the power of art.
When I felt like my identity was being stripped from me art helped me learn who I really am.
Art, literature, and life all mirror each other. When we pause, even for a brief moment, it can be a powerful reminder that our stories are worth sharing - and our perspective matters.
